DONATE AN HOUR OF TIME!

Together with our community partners and friends, the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County annually hosts a volunteer “marathon” with 26.2 hours straight of volunteering for a variety of projects in the local community. Each year the needs of our community are re-evaluated – projects may include cooking for local food pantries, organizing informational packets for ommunity partners, sorting donated clothing and shoes, painting and beautifying, and cataloging archival items.

In March 2024, we continued the tradition of the Volunteer-A-Thon with 11 community partners participating.  Leaguers volunteered a total of 187 volunteer hours in support of this annual event.  Some sample activities this year included creating a pollinator garden with a local Bridgeport elementary school, painting and cleaning at a preschool and a shelter for female veterans, gathering and sorting donated books for a Book Drive as well as cooking meals for Operation Hope.

In 2025, our Volunteer-A-Thon will be held on March 21st through March 22nd, when we will be partnering again with eleven community partners, some historical and some new. Besides traditional partners such as Operation Hope and The Thomas Hooker School in Bridgeport, we will be collaberating with the Town of Fairfield Conservation Department to erect fifteen Bluebird boxes in and around Fairfield, and providing snacks during Saturday rehearsals for 100 KEYS Music students, an organization that supports and encourages musical skill development and growth among students that traditionally don’t have access to these opportunities.
